Othello, But Bigger!

I discovered a few days ago, while trying to do something else, that in Iango, ie., GNOME Othello/Reversi, you can change the size of the board from the standard 8 by 8 to, well, whatever you want.

iagno -s 12, for instance, will generate a 12×12 board. So that’s what I’ve been playing as late.

I'm dominating this game from pretty much the start

Still dominating the board

White is down to a single piece

And, the final board.

The final board. Overwhelmingly black, but white holds a couple of blocks through the middle

In the late stages, I found myself in a position where I had no legal moves for three or four turns in a row.

12 by 12 Othello, a nice little challenge.

There’s still room in my repertoire for the standard game, though.

Screenshot of a standard game of Othello/Reversi, showing me dominating the board, with White eliminated entirely.
