Watching last night’s Cubs :cubs: game, this is how I felt:
I’ve always said Charlie Brown was a Chicago Cubs fan, after all… 😉
It wasn’t just that Theodore Roosevelt Lilly (or as I saw him called on Bleed Cubbie Blue today, Maximus Tedimus Meridius) was back on the mound and threw shutout ball against the Brewers for his six innings of work.
It wasn’t that the Cubs got timely hitting, putting the game away in the top of the eighth with three insurance runs.
It wasn’t even that Carlos Zambrano, the Big Z himself, made his first relief appearance in nigh eight years and acquitted himself well, driving in exactly as many runs and he gave up.
It was that all of the pieces came together and the Cubs :cubs: played good baseball, putting them two games under .500 and only 2 1/2 games back of the hated St. Louis Cardinals and raising the team’s chances of making the post-season to 27%.
And today the Cubs stand the chance of making a sweep on the Brewers. The only thing I have to say to that is:
🙂
