On Lis Sladen

When I was twelve, Sarah Jane Smith was my first Doctor Who companion and the actress, Lis Sladen, was my first crush, and even though I never met her, she set the impossible standard for my romantic life.

Lis Sladen passed away, earlier today, after a bout with cancer, aged 63.

Tonight I’ll remember her, with Tom Baker and Ian Marter, when they were young and when the universe was scary.

Sleep well, Ms. Sladen.

  1. A big shock, to be sure. I haven’t even watched my DVDs of her new Sara Jane series yet. My favorite, for lack of a better word, tribute that I’ve seen so far is the one John Kovalic did at dorktower.com.
