On Galileo and Middle-Earth

This search phrase brought someone to my blog today — “in lord of the ring the fellowship of the ring what did galileo say to the elves.”

Yes, I too would like to know what Galileo said to the Elves. The cosmology of Middle-Earth is fascinating. Did making the world round when Numenor fell also cause the universe beyond Earth to come into being? That’s an argument you can make, because until the fall of Numenor the universe wasn’t just geocentric. Middle-Earth was all there was. Even Venus didn’t come into being until the end of the First Age, and even then Venus wasn’t a planet. It was Earendil and his Silmaril riding through the skies.

So, yes, anonymous Google searcher! I too want to know what Galileo said to the Elves in The Fellowship of the Ring. If you ever find out, please let me know!
