I think it’s done. I think I’ve tinkered with every last little bit of .CSS that needed tinkering.
The Doctor Who roundel background has been replaced. We’ve gone from a classic series-style roundel to a new series-style roundel.
Post tagging is a lot more complete, though there’s still about a year and a half’s worth of posts to go through and tag.
In the comments replies that I make will be highlighted. Italics are now easier to read.
Not really a new thing, but I’ve tweaked the print stylesheet slightly. If you see something and you want to print it, feel free. 🙂
I’ve added a new button to the navigation bar in the header graphic. Random does exactly what it says. It takes you to a random post.
The biggie? Single posts now fill the entire width of the content area. No more blank area where the sidebar would be!
This sounds like a lot of work. It wasn’t, actually. The roundel background graphic–yes, that took some time to create. The rest? Tinkering and experimentation. Tinkering and experimentation.
I think it works out nicely. Until I decide to tinker again. 😉
I have to be honest, I like the old roundels better. But that’s just me. 🙂
I use Ultimate Tag Warrior for my site’s tags, and that was a pain going back and re-tagging everything. It was also a learning experience, because I wasn’t so familiar with what tags to use. And I’m probably still awful at it, but at least I’m improving. I had to go back and use the plug-in to edit tags afterwards. After a few bored Sunday afternoons, I got it done.
I keep going back and forth on the roundels, because they don’t look particularly Whoish. (And I had to go back and check–the roundels do run parallel like this; I feel like they should be staggered.) They look either a bit Aztec or a bit Dalek, and that’s why I may switch back. On the other hand, it was a fun hour and half in a graphics editor program.
Ah, yes, Ultimate Tag Warrior. I’d installed it, then stopped using it when WordPress 2.1 came out (because they didn’t play well, but lots of things didn’t play well with WP2.1 at first). Now that they’re moving tags into the WordPress core with 2.3 (and there’s supposed to be some sort of import from UTW) I decided to get back with the program.
I had problems with UTM and 2.1, but I was able to Google for my answers (and even then, it was hunt-and-peck). Put it you this way: I’m not upgrading or touching UTW. It was a hassle and I can’t remember everything I did (though I may links if you’re interested).
I though Tags were coming in WP 2.2? I’m definitely excited about that (well, as excited as I can be about a web product 😉 ), and I was hoping for a UTW to WP tag importer. Sweet.
Tags were coming in 2.2, but part of the delay for 2.2 (which is due out any day now) was to pull the tag code out and leave that change for 2.3 later this year.
