On the Poly Sci-Fi Meme 2008

I was tagged last night with a political/sci-fi meme by Valley of the Shadow, a Doctor Who fan. So, let’s have some fun. 🙂

1} President George W. Bush or President William Clinton? You must answer 1a and 1b.
President Clinton.

1a} Give 3 issues why you support your guy:
a) Balanced the budget and oversaw the largest economic expansion in American history
b) Helped achieve peace in Northern Ireland
c) The military intervention in Kosovo

1b} Now name 3 things good about the other guy.
a) Supports a sensible immigration policy
b) Has made improving the American education system a priority
c) He’s kind to his dog, Barney

2} Favorite Sci-fi movie?
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

3} Favorite Sci-fi TV show?
Doctor Who

4} Favorite Alternate History story (movie, TV or book)?
Robert Harris’ Fatherland.

5} Best American Legislator? (if overseas, your local Legislators)
Sen. Robert Byrd

6} Best Foreign Legislator? (if overseas, this is where you can choose American legislators)
I can think of foreign leaders, but I can’t think of any that stand out for their policies or platforms.

7} Favorite Sci-fi scene? (Youtube it if you can)
The scene in Contact when Ellie Arroway sees her father on the alien beach.

8} Pitch a cross-over between two sci-fi shows/movies/etc.:
The Sixth Doctor takes Jean-Luc Picard as his companion, while also travelling with Frobisher. That’s not my first choice for a Doctor Who crossover, however. That idea I mentioned to a few people at Farpoint several weeks back — and that idea makes people’s brains POP! 😆

9} Who will win the Democratic Presidential Primary? Why?
I honestly do not know. I think Senator Obama will have the most pledged delegates going out of the early June primaries, because barring a major faux pas on his part I don’t see any way for Senator Clinton to close the gap. But I think it’s possible that Senator Clinton will still come away with the nomination through the super delegates at the convention.

10} Will Gordon Brown call an election before 2010?
I doubt it, but I don’t know enough of British Parliamentary politics to make any sort of accurate prediction.

11} Favorite Steampunk, Cyberpunk or Post-Cyberpunk novel, comic, book or movie?
I was never into Cyberpunk, and I’m not that familiar with Steampunk, though I have some Steampunk concepts I’m kicking around to possibly write.

12} Best Pizza place? Please provide the link.
I like pizza, but I can’t say I have any preferences on pizza restaurants. There’s the one up in Hunt Valley, near the hotel of the Shore Leave Convention, that I usually visit when I’m up there for Farpoint or Shore Leave. But I have no idea what it’s called.

And that’s that. Anyone who wants to run with this, feel free. I’m supposed to tag five people, but I’m okay with anyone picking it up if they’re so inclined. 🙂
