On Vice Presidential Thoughts

I’ve decided, this should be my motto — “I read Red State, so you don’t have to.”

Red State is a conservative blog/community. If you’re familiar with DailyKos, then Red State is like that. Except where DailyKos is a progressive community, Red State is a conservative community.

I wade into Red State about once a day, to see what conservative bloggers are thinking.

Most of the time, I think they’re nuts. Self-deluded. Batshit.

Of course, I realize, they would think the same of me.

Hell, I was a John Edwards supporter. That I can and do admit that, even at this point, says something of my own batshitness. 😉

But I digress.

Consider today’s Red State find — a lengthy roundtable discussion on whom presumptive Republican Presidential nominee John McCain might name as his Vice Presidential running mate come Friday.

It’s quite educational.

To be frank, I’ve not heard of some of the people they discuss. Eric Cantor, a Republican Congressman from Virginia, for instance.

They cover a wide range, attacking both pros and cons, from which candidates match up best with McCain and against Joe Biden to which candidates would be best positioned to carry the Republican Party’s standard in 2012 or 2016.

There’s no consensus pick. The roundtable seems to think that McCain’s best choices are Cantor, Mitt Romney, and Tim Pawlenty, with Cantor probably being the ideal choice.
