That sound you hear?
That is the sound of my head beating up against the desk in my cubicle. And the primal screams that are still reverberating off the buildings in this little corner of Maryland.
The reason?
I wrote a macro in Excel.
And I didn’t save it!
From hell’s heart I stab at thee, Excel! For hate’s sake, I spit my last breath at thee!
*sigh* *deep breath*
It’s not Excel’s fault. Honestly, it’s not.
I was working with a tab-delimited text file. I saved the text file. Which doesn’t save the macro with it.
So when I closed out Excel, the macro was gone.
I can reconstruct the work. Hell, I have a whole sodding month before I need to use this routine again.
But it’s the principle of the thing.
I’ll clean up the bloody mess on my desk in the morning. Maybe.
I’m tempted just to leave it, as a warning to my coworkers.
Bloody Excel.
Ouch. I’ve done that before in Word. With about that same reaction when I realized it. *hands over a beer*
Think about it this way, it should take a lot less time to re-create it when you get back to it. Provided the computer isn’t harmed when you do get back to it by the sheer annoyance of having to re-do the work.
