Microsoft’s successor to the XBox will probably debut at May’s E3 trade show.
The XBox 2 will probably launch in late 2005.
Lots of “probabalies” here. Take the speculation as you will. If the next XBox does launch in October or November, it should make for an exciting Christmas.

Frankly, I won’t get an Xbox 2 until I see what Nintendo and Sony are doing, so I know if I’m interested in either of their consoles. There were only four Xbox-exclusive titles that I actually want; assuming a similar rate for Xbox 2, I’d only get one if that’s what I was going to get the next-gen cross-platform titles for (as opposed to GameCube this time around).
