An email I wrote a few minutes ago to Congressman Lloyd Smucker:
Dear Representative Smucker:
Your Republican colleague, Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, introduced articles of impeachment today, charging Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth with high crimes and misdemeanors in his handling of the Iran war.
I ask that you join with Representative Massie in supporting the impeachment of Secretary Hegseth. His handling of the conflict, to say nothing of his wider leadership of the Department of Defense, shows an appalling level of incompetence. He has degraded the American military’s capabilities, shown little regard for the common soldier, and oversaw the unnecessary deaths of Iranian civilians, including an entire girls’ school. Secretary Hegseth has shown himself to be a man who revels in death and destruction, and his messianic certitude in his correctness has done real harm to the United States and its role in the world.
I agree with Representative Massie that Secretary Hegseth should be impeached and removed from office. I ask that you join Representative Massie and join his articles of impeachment. We need strong leadership at the Pentagon and an end to the conflict in the Persian Gulf. Secretary Hegseth is incapable of either.
Hegseth must be impeached.
Allyn Gibson
I asked for a response. I do not expect one.
