On Festivus

Today, December 23rd, 2nd Afteryule, is also the date on which we celebrate Festivus, the holiday for the rest of us. 🙂

Air your grievances! Raise your pole! Perform feats of strength!

Why Festivus has caught on I couldn’t say. Maybe everyone needs a sanity moment from the onrush of Christmas. Or maybe, just maybe, to mangle a line from It’s a Wonderful Life, every time a Festivus Pole is raised Bill O’Reilly has a minor stroke. 😉

  1. Was Festivus originally “celebrated” in a Star Trek episode? They landed on a planet that looked like 1800s USA (wild west, with saloons, etc.). When a bell rang all these straight-laced, Victorian-like people went nuts. They yelled ?Festivus? and started ripping off their clothes, etc. Sound familiar?
