Computer in the hotel lobby free, so let’s update. 🙂 Just dropped money on silly things. The novelization of the Gene Wilder film, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ Smarter Brother, which I remember watching as a kid (and probably not in the last twenty-plus years). A bootleg DVD set of the complete Birds of Prey.Continue reading “On Shore Leave III”
On Shore Leave II
Writing this morning from the computer terminal in the Hunt Valley Marriott lobby. On a random note, it’s odd to see my webpage on a computer other than mine. I think I made some decent generic font choices, and it looks nice, but I miss seeing the various Doctor Who fonts used on the page.Continue reading “On Shore Leave II”
On Shore Leave
Every July I attend the Shore Leave media sci-fi convention in Baltimore. This year, it’s no different. I’m leaving Raleigh in about two hours. I want to be on the road by ten. I haven’t packed yet. So, expect stony silence here the next week. Play nice. 🙂
On a Plot Outline III
Seven more pages, 2500 words, of plot outline written today. Now, to get ready for work!
On Hurricanes
So, there’s a hurricane coming up the east coast through Florida. Excuse me, a tropical depression. But it’s coming up the coast. Passing through North Carolina, on its way up north, to Baltimore and points beyond. Tomorrow. But tomorrow, I’m driving from Raleigh to Baltimore, for the Shore Leave science-fiction convention. I’ll be driving throughContinue reading “On Hurricanes”
On Microsoft Word
I have a pet-hate for Microsoft Word. I disagree with its grammer checking mode. Take this sentence–“Lights dim.” It’s a perfectly good sentence. Microsoft Word considers this a sentence fragment. Excuse me? What more does it need? I have a subject–“Lights”–that acts on its own–they “dim.” I could have written “Lights go dark” but IContinue reading “On Microsoft Word”
On Darwin Award Nominees
Is it wrong to wish a Darwin Award on an unsuspecting boob? I think not… Yesterday, for reasons that pass beyond all understanding, the company decided that strip stores should be open regular hours. Never mind that it was the Fourth of July, that every American has a patriotic duty to blow up a smallContinue reading “On Darwin Award Nominees”
On a Plot Outline II
Today I edited a page out of the plot outline, tightening it from eight pages to seven. Surprisingly, the outline didn’t suck. 😉 Now, to work on a separate, yet completely related plotline.
On a Plot Outline
Tonight I’ve written three thousand words of a plot outline. Eight pages, double spaced. Now to see if it’s any good….
On Summer
It hasn’t just been hot–temperates flirting in the triple digits–recently. No, it’s been positively sultry, too, in North Carolina. Heat on its own is fine. Humidity on its own isn’t fine, but it’s tolerable. Combine the two? Downright miserable. It’s bad enough that you need air conditioning in the car. I’m a roll-the-windows down kindContinue reading “On Summer”
