Charlie Brown’s Nationals All-Stars

Finally, Facebook shows me an ad that’s relevant to my interests! It was bound to happen at some point.

An advertisement for a Washington Nationals/Peanuts 75th-Anniversary baseball jersey. The bottom of the jersey is panels from baseball-themed Peanuts strips, while the front has the Nationals script and the back has Snoopy and the 75th-anniversary logo.

Facebook has shown me Peanuts-themed baseball jerseys before, but not for the Nationals. For example…

I didn’t hate these — they still pop up in my feed, and from time to time I’ve thought about the Cubs version — but it’s not creative. It’s just taking the standard jersey style and slapping images of Snoopy on it.

The Nationals jersey feels more thought out.

It also feels like a minor league jersey. It reminds me of the jersey the York Revolution used three years ago for their Peanuts-themed game.

Honestly, I prefer the York Revolution jersey. The Nationals jersey, the more I look at it, is just too dark.

Also, while the ad says the jersey is “Official,” and there’s a Nike stripe on the front, I am 100% certain that it’s unlicensed merchandise, like those other Peanuts-themed jerseys. Facebook, unfortunately, is full of unlicensed, unofficial, copyright-violating merchandise.

That said, if the Washington Nationals were to do a Peanuts-themed night with a jersey or t-shirt giveaway, I would be interested. Very interested, indeed.
