It’s Looking Like a Beautiful Day

This came up in my Facebook memories five years ago today.

Students at a high school in England made a music video for Elbow’s “One Day Like This.” I was thinking about this video recently (read: within the last six-nine months) and couldn’t figure out the right combination of search terms to find it. I… worked on this story for a year… and… he just… tweeted it out.

This hit during the summer of COVID, and there was a joy to it that was needed at the time. That I needed at the time. Those weren’t good days, and sometimes I feel March 2020 has never ended.

About the same time, the Live at the Ritz album arrived. I ordered it as soon as it was announced, and it took months to cross the Pond. I listened to “Weightless” a lot.

I’m seeing Elbow in September in DC. First time they’ve toured the United States since a short West Coast swing in early 2020 in support of Giants of All Sizes. It’s been a long time, and a lot has changed since then.
