Autumn’s Arrival

Autumn has arrived.

How do I know this? My knees decided to tell me.

Monday morning I was fine, felt no effects of the walk around Prospect Hill Cemetery. Monday afternoon, however, I had a painful arthritis burning through my knees, an arthritis so bad that I could barely stand and sleeping was almost impossible.

Cranberry juice and ibuprofen throughout Tuesday led to the pain subsiding by afternoon, and today it’s been as though the arthritis was never there. Which, in my experience, points to weather-related arthritis rather than anything deeper.

It was a nice day, though a little cool, so I went up to the state park to see the fall foliage.

This is looking west from toward York.

Looking south toward Turkey Hill. Yes, Turkey Hill is a place, not just an ice cream brand.

Yes, the cloud cover was heavy to the north of the park, and to the south it was almost non-existent. It made for a very strange experience. 🙂

I’ve recently begun playing Minesweeper, that old Windows game. Well, xbomb, a game inspired by Minesweeper. I never actually did, back in the day.

This one has a couple of different game types besides the original square grid. It also has a hex grid and a triangle grid.

I’m kinda doing okay with it. I was only sort of aware of the rules of the game, setting off one of the bombs by accident is fairly common, and the hex and triangle variants definitely present different challenges.

Being an X11 game, I added some custom declarations to the .Xresources file in my Linux Mint install to make xbomb match the Mint-Y-Dark-Teal theme, so it looks like it belongs. For reference:

Tomorrow, laundry and more job applicatons. Yay!

And, I’m looking at a website refresh. I coded a new front-end in early 2022 and I’ve never used it. There’s nothing wrong with it that writing a little copy and a minor code addition won’t fix.

But I want to think on this.
