A week ago I came across this on a Beatles blog I read occasionally — someone has done a video for the John Lennon demo of “Now and Then,” the song the surviving Beatles worked on in the 1990s and left unfinished. The version of the song in the video is intriguing. It’s a decentContinue reading “On “Now and Then””
On Laundry
The rain storms broke Saturday morning. I had laundry to do, but I didn’t do it Saturday. Instead, I did it this morning. And I hung it out on the clothesline. It wasn’t warm today — mid-50s — but it was bright and it was clear. Perfect drying weather. Laundry done on the line justContinue reading “On Laundry”
On Needed LEGOs
I’ve noticed some interesting — and similar — search phrases in the logs recently. Phrases such as: LEGO Sarah Jane LEGO Doctor Who LEGO Daleks LEGO Doctor Who video game Yes, there are people out there wanting information on LEGO Doctor Who products. LEGO Doctor Who! There are LEGO Star Wars sets. LEGO Batman sets.Continue reading “On Needed LEGOs”
On Some New Changes
The Stonehenge theme was always a short-term solution. I knew that WordPress 2.3 was coming. I knew it was adding tagging to the core. And I knew that meant changes under the hood to the way WordPress themes worked. I remember the upgrade to 2.1. Oh, do I remember the upgrade to WordPress 2.1. SoContinue reading “On Some New Changes”
On the New Superman
I read a report out of Hollywood yesterday that the casting of Superman for the Justice League film may have be decided. Rupert Evans. I’ll be honest. The first time I read that, I misread it at “Rupert Everett.” And, I can safely say, I absolutely did not see Rupert Everett as the Man ofContinue reading “On the New Superman”
On Spammers and Scammers
This evening I made an intriguing discovery. A post I had made — on my favorite short story, “Lean Times in Lankhmar” — has been “scraped.” What that means is this. Someone else has taken that post, and published it on a blog. Specifically, a blog about making money. Sometimes called a “splog,” short forContinue reading “On Spammers and Scammers”
On Having Seen the Rain
I’ve put some John Fogerty in the CD player this morning. Why? Because it’s raining, that’s why! It’s been so sodding dry since August it’s not amusing. The reservoir, when I went out to Eldersburg over the weekend, had fallen drastically. The Baltimore Sun showed an aerial picture of the reservoir in the paper justContinue reading “On Having Seen the Rain”
On the Newest Find
People get rid of stuff at work, and then it’s free for the taking. Usually it’s comic books. Sometimes it’s magazines. I’ve picked up some manga here and there. Even a Torchwood DVD. But home improvement products? Not usually… Someone put a Superman Light Switch Plate on the reading rack yesterday. A couple turns ofContinue reading “On the Newest Find”
On Drinking a Coke
The vending machine was out of root beer. I didn’t feel like taking a ride on the elevator to the basement to buy an overpriced root beer from the cafe in the basement. I hit the button for Coke. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had a Coke. Funny, that. The red aluminum can,Continue reading “On Drinking a Coke”
On EB Games and Robberies
I sometimes read Kotaku, a video game news blog. I know, it’s surprising — I can’t tell you the last time I turned on my XBox, yet I still stay somewhat informed of goings-on in the game industry. This headline shocked me. GameStop Manager Killed During Robbery. The facts are these. An armed robber enteredContinue reading “On EB Games and Robberies”
