Every week, usually Wednesday, I pick up the Raleigh-area free weekly, the Independent. It's not a particularly great free weekly, but for reading fodder for a lunch break it fills the need nicely. One thing I particularly enjoy reading, just because it's so strange, is the horoscope, Rob Breszny's Free Will Astrology. Breszny goes offContinue reading “On a Horoscope”

On Some Random Observances
Sitting in my car this morning, after I’d pulled into my parking space at work, I took a look through the sunroof at the sky. It was cloudy, chilly, even a little blustery. And what did I notice? Muddy cat footprints. On the sunroof. I’ve long known the cats liked getting on the car, butContinue reading “On Some Random Observances”
On the Lack of Updates
Updates this past week have been sparse. Frankly. I’ve not been in the mood, hasn’t been a priority. Such is life. That’s not to say things haven’t happened this past week. They have. I’ve been tired. I’ve felt weary. My bones ached. I’ve been frustrated. One, on its own, might not have been much. AddContinue reading “On the Lack of Updates”
On an Almost Year-In-Review
Yes, I stole this from Jon Polk, who stole it from a bunch of other people. 😉 Here’s what you do: Go to your Calendar View and copy/paste the first sentence of your first (or only) entry for the first day of each month for the year 2005. A year in review? Perhaps. I sawContinue reading “On an Almost Year-In-Review”
On My Grandmother's Car
The battery in her car died. It’s winter, it’s cold, this is to be expected. She’s greatly upset by this. Let me explain what I’ve just spent the past hour doing, because I wouldn’t believe it myself otherwise. Take everything out of the car, she said–the car knows there’s stuff in it that’s not supposedContinue reading “On My Grandmother's Car”
On Christmas Wishes
People keep asking me, What do I want for Christmas? Well, the things I want–world peace, an end to hunger, President’s Bush impeachment, Vice President Cheney’s indictment for war crimes–no one can give me. These are unrealistic wishes. But for the sake of those having difficulty finding things that I might want, I humbly offerContinue reading “On Christmas Wishes”
On Time Flying
It’s already November-freaking-twentieth. How does this happen? Where does time go? Next thing you know, tomorrow will be New Year’s. Wow.
On Being Tired
Back from Baltimore. Long trip. Eyes hurt. Really tired. Work tomorrow. Sleep!
On another Road Trip
On the way to Baltimore. Visit my grandmother’s house, make sure the pilot light in the furnace is lit, and other assorted odds and ends. I’ll be back to work on Thursday. E-mails, don’t expect a reply until Friday at the earliest. Peace.
On Deja Vu
I had an attack of deja vu at work today. Very disconcerting.
