Today, a round-up of things on my mind. The Olympics begin in a day or two. That I don’t know exactly when they begin is a sign of how much I care. Which is to say that I care about the Olympics not at all. I’ve no intention to watch them. When I was eleven,Continue reading “On Thursday’s Quick Hits”

On Character Coffee Mugs
I needed a coffee mug for the office. The reason? I needed something to put my copious supply of pens in. Cheap coffee mugs, the kind you can buy at the dollar store, work wonders. I went to the dollar store at the mall nearby after work. They had coffee mugs. For a buck each.Continue reading “On Character Coffee Mugs”
On the New Office Digs
I have seen the new office. I have seen my new cubicle. It’s at the window. On the sixth floor. It has a view that goes for miles. I am pleased. 🙂
On Godhood and Other Random Hits
I am no mere Excel guru. I am an Excel god. Look upon ye mighty spreadsheet in despair! ‘Tis nobler to reign in Excel than serve in heaven! Excel! I had a project dropped in my lap today. A project that should have been done weeks ago. A project that involved taking a very largeContinue reading “On Godhood and Other Random Hits”
On the Tuesday Feeling
I woke this morning… …and had no idea what day it was. The idea that today was Tuesday was simple inconceivable to me. I don’t know what day I thought it was, but Tuesday it was not. Could it be that I got up with the alarm, rather than hit the Snooze button the two,Continue reading “On the Tuesday Feeling”
On Feeling Anxious
Today, I felt anxious. Today, I felt on edge. Oh, I had reason. Today was my big day in the publishing cycle, where I had publications to put together from scratch and get them out the door to press. But! There wasn’t anything different or unusual this time. Actually, things should have been smoother sailingContinue reading “On Feeling Anxious”
On Commuting Follies
Three hours to get home from work. Storms. A tree dropped across the Light Rail line. What they called “bus bridges” were put into place, only there wasn’t any indication how they worked — or where they were going. Add to that, a monsoon. All in all, three hours. I’m beat.
On Today’s Public Transportation Discovery
I had a cannister full of nickels at home. There’s a problem when you have a change jar; it’s that if you don’t spend it, change can be really difficult to get rid of. Hence, a cannister full of nickels. And some dimes. Plus the occasional quarter. I decided this morning that while it’s allContinue reading “On Today’s Public Transportation Discovery”
On that Friday Feeling
Some days go by in a blur. Some days drag horribly. Today felt like one of the latter. It began with the alarm going off. I’ve never been much of a morning person, and I had one of those “Aww, do I have to get out of bed?” mornings. I adjusted my wake-up time byContinue reading “On that Friday Feeling”
On Melting
Today, it’s been a melty sort of day. My brain melted. I wrote. I wrote a lot. A lot of what I wrote is even good. All told, it was a 12k day. But, that takes a lot out of the gray matter. It leaves it melty. My body melted. For some reason, today CharmContinue reading “On Melting”
