On an Annoyance

Said a woman to me at work today, “Your name is spelled wrong.”

No. I’m sorry, but it’s not.

I know I’ve mentioned my name before, but it bears repeating.

“Allyn” is a name that’s been passed down in the family for a hundred years. I don’t know where it came from. I don’t know how it came to be spelled as it is. But just because my name has an unfamiliar variant spelling doesn’t mean it’s spelled “wrong.”
