Well, that was a fun ten minutes.
I tried to send an e-mail. I couldn’t connect to my SMTP server. Why? Because Earthlink had put up some extra jiggery-pokery to prevent spammers from using their servers.
Well, yippee.
My e-mail error log gave me a URL to visit. So I did.
And it wasn’t helpful. If I used Outlook or Eudora, I’d be okay. It had instructions for those. But not The Bat. Never The Bat.
I love The Bat.
Fortunately, I am nothing, if not a compulsive tinkerer. I read the Eudora directions. Eudora’s pretty basic. I understand a little bit about e-mail protocols. I knew I’d be able to puzzle out the right combination of settings to allow me to connect to Earthlink’s SMTP server.
How many different connections did I try? Too many, too many.
Ten minutes worth of work, it was. But now I can send e-mail again.
Yippee?
