Oasis released their first CD in three years today, Don’t Believe the Truth.
I’ve listened to it twice now. I’m not taken with it. And I’ll be damned if I could really explain why.
The music is okay, but not catchy. What it sounds like is a Beatles tribute band, only moreso. And yes, I know Oasis took their lead from Revolver-era Beatles, but I’d expect something catchy to come from that. Instead, a lot of the songs feel insubstantial and unfinished.
I’ll listen to it a few more times to form a final opinion, surely, but it’s not on top of my list of things-to-do.
And here I was, looking forward to a summer with new Oasis and new Coldplay. Don’t let me down, Coldplay.
