Two years ago I hacked together a Doctor Who layout for WordPress and my website. It wasn’t anything fancy, it was difficult to read, and I had no clear vision of what I wanted to do with.
Today I pulled out the stylesheet and took a look at the code for the first time in a very long time.
Now we have a Doctor Who look again.
The end result is not what I did two years ago. It’s similar, borrowing some elements like font choices and link colors, but that’s about it. The header graphic is different. Width, sidebar organization, etc.–that’s all different. And whereas what I’d done two years ago was nigh unreadable, this new layout is easier on the eyes.
Is it a permanent change? Well, to the extent that anything here is permanent… 😉
I think it’ll stick around until spring. Maybe something baseball-like will catch my fancy. In the meantime, seeing the TARDIS in an alien landscape will be a pleasant way to start my day.
Hey, love the new theme. Man, whoever had the idea to dust off this theme and work on it… man, that guy is a genius. :hat:
Nice! 😀
Bah. You and your “classic TARDIS”… 😛
(Who am I to speak, though? I didn’t create the themes for any of the three WordPress sites I have. At least I switched away from Kubrick, though, unlike most WP sites. *shudder*)
Ah, Kubrick, how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways…. :/
Actually, I don’t hate Kubrick. I’m just not a fan of it. I think the underlying code is painful to look at, I think the way it renders pages looks… bland. Yet, a lot of work went into making Kubrick look as it does, and I will say that for all of its blandness it does has a solid, professional look. And I will say that Kubrick is not as godawful as the classic WordPress theme or Moveable Type’s default Vicksburg theme.
Leaving code out of it entirely, kubrick is simply plebeian – no creativity or originality at all…. don’t know about “Vicksburg” but I infinitely prefer the look of WP Classic to kubrick….
The only thing I find “awkward” about Dr.Who, btw, is the font size in the comments list.
And that’s why I run FF….
