I saw a commercial today for Disney’s new animated film about Pooh and the Heffalumps. The animation looks sub-par. Still, it’s Pooh, and that forgives a lot. The film opens Friday, I think. Must remember–go see the Heffalump movie! In the meantime, why not read Peter David’s The Genesis of the Heffalumps?

On Getting Away for the Weekend
Yesterday, I took my first weekend off since October and decided to drive up to Lynchburg and visit my brother and sister. Two pretty days for a drive. The weather was been fantastic, and the backcountry of North Carolina and Virginia were eye-opening. I saw mountains again, mountains. One bad thing, no cell phone signalContinue reading “On Getting Away for the Weekend”
On Bidding Farewell to Umarala
A few weeks ago at work I pre-ordered Champions: Return to Arms, the sequel to last year’s PlayStation 2 game Champions of Norrath. As a freebie I received a 2005 calendar, “Armed & Deadly: The Babes of Champions.” Twelve months of well-armed fantasy women–mainly elves, some humans. While they may be well-armed–double-headed axes, swords, staffs,Continue reading “On Bidding Farewell to Umarala”
On Childhood Television Crushes
As seen on Bill Leisner‘s LiveJournal: List five fictional people — from television, movies, books, whatever — that you had a crush on as a child (or early teens). Then post this on your LiveJournal so other people can be assured that you’re as weird as they thought. 5. Vina (Susan Oliver of Star Trek:Continue reading “On Childhood Television Crushes”
On the Latest XBox News
Microsoft’s successor to the XBox will probably debut at May’s E3 trade show. The XBox 2 will probably launch in late 2005. Lots of “probabalies” here. Take the speculation as you will. If the next XBox does launch in October or November, it should make for an exciting Christmas.
On 62 Questions
Keith R.A. Decandido posted a list of sixty-one biographical questions–numbered to sixty-two, skipping number eleven. I took a crack at answering them myself, and added a question, to bring the total number to sixty-two. Read away!
On Absolution by Murder
I spent yesterday afternoon someplace I’ve not been since college–the laundromat. The dryer at home decided about a week ago that it didn’t want to work anymore, but the laundry still needs to get done, and so a laundromat it was. Anyone who has spent time doing their laundry at a laundromat knows that youContinue reading “On Absolution by Murder”
On Sherlockian Ponderings
Yesterday going through e-mail I came across a call for submissions to a Sherlock Holmes collection of scholarly ponderings, satire, and pasticherie. I’m not much for satire, I’ve written a few pastiches in my time, and decided, on a lark, to e-mail back the editor with a slightly silly idea for a scholarly pondering, aContinue reading “On Sherlockian Ponderings”
