Today is the final day of the Farpoint Convention. I expect it’ll wrap up around six, and depending upon traffic, I may make it home by midnight. Maybe. Fortunately, I don’t go in to work until one tomorrow, so time isn’t critical. 🙂

On Farpoint, Day Two
Today, the second day of the Farpoint Convention. 🙂 And just because this is strange, House Sparkleypoo. 🙂
On Farpoint
I am currently at the Farpoint Convention, held in Hunt Valley, Maryland every February. Expect updates when I’m back in Raleigh on Monday.
On Things I Have
Since I need some content, let’s steal from Todd! 🙂 Name a CD you own that you think no-one else on your friends list doesCello Submarine, an interpretation of Beatles songs by the cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic. On Recasting Remington Steele
As I mentioned a few months ago, Pierce Brosnan has expressed an interest in reviving Remington Steele, the 1980s mystery-comedy television series that provided his breakout role, as a feature film. Some reports, though, indicate that Brosnan has no interest in reprising his role of the mysterious Mr. Steele, but would recast the roles ofContinue reading “On Recasting Remington Steele”
On Vacation
I’m leaving, heading out of town. Vacation. I’ll be attending the Farpoint Convention, a science-fiction convention held outside Baltimore every February. But that’s not until Friday. Until then? Well, the open road stretches ahead. 🙂
On Giant Microbes
Damn, I wish I‘d thought of this. 🙂 A company, GIANTmicrobes, offers plush dolls of all your favorite viruses and bacteria, like the Black Death and influenza. They even offer venereal diseases, like syphillis. The cuteness appeals to my sense of the perverse. 😀
On Poor Sleep
I slept poorly last night. I went to bed at a decent time–decent for me, at any rate–not much past eleven, curled up with Edison’s Conquest of Mars, Garrett Serviss’ 1898 sequel to H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds. read maybe fifteen pages, and then nodded off to sleep. At three I awoke withContinue reading “On Poor Sleep”
On Boston Legal DVDs
Boston Legal‘s first season will be released on DVD on May 23rd. Could this mean a release of The Practice might not be too far behind? One can only hope… 🙂
On Social Security Privatization
Last year President Bush proposed a Social Security privatization plan–workers could divert some of their payroll taxes into private savings accounts–as a way of heading off a financial crisis in the Social Security program at some point in the future. In Bush’s view, making workers more responsible for their retirement needs would reduce the burdenContinue reading “On Social Security Privatization”
